This visa replaces the Investor 1 and Investor 2 visas. The minimum investment is NZD $15 million, or the weighted equivalent. For example, for managed funds, each dollar invested will be doubled, so NZD $7.5 million would be sufficient if the entire investment was in a managed fund. For direct investment, each dollar is weighted x 3, so NZD $5 million in direct investments would be sufficient, i.e. equaling NZD $15 million for the purposes of this visa. Philanthropy and listed equities are at a 1 to 1 ratio, meaning NZD $15 million would be required.
It is important to note that only a licensed financial adviser can tell you what investments to use. I work with a licensed financial adviser who can assist you with that.
It's also worth noting that the Parent Retirement Residence Visa is a kind of hybrid between a family-based application and an investor application, and may be more appropriate if you have children in New Zealand.
